The accommodation for the trip consisted wholly of my tent, camping wild and a couple of actual sites for the whole week.  Wild camping was definitely the best being able to just set the tent up wherever you wanted was one of the best things about the trip especially due to the locations.  Here below I show where the camping spots for the week were and rate each of them for future visitors.

camping Isle of Barra Night 1 & 2 - Northbay Isle of Barra (airport)

By far my favorite camping spot from the trip, there is a strip of grass right next to the beach with excellent ground for camping and you can use the facilities of the airport (toilets and cafe etc).  Waking up the first morning was unforgettable, as you look right across the beach to isles of Gighay and wait for the morning plane to arrive.  The night i arrived it was absolutely chucking it down so it was a great relief when i saw it was clear the next day.  This is a popular spot for backpackers and there will most probably be tents sitting there already.  However its quite a trek to Castlebay for the shops, pubs etc.  I cant rate this site highly enough and for £0 a night top totty !

Night 3 - Grimsay Island - North Uist

Onto now the worst night of the trip, and one which i wished i chose a different spot.  Grimsay island as the name suggests is grim and the wind pounded the tent allll night ! the local seagulls also used the tent for target practice.  The ground turned out to be a bit of a slope.  It was getting to about 9pm and we could not find a decent spot to camp and getting slightly agitated so once we went over the causeway to Grimsay island we said stuff it and just set up camp right next to the road, its was cold and started to rain so wasn't in the best of moods already.  I suppose it was ok though and i did manage to get a good sleep ( although having cycled 45 miles that day might of had something to do with that !)  Again since it was wild no charge so cant really complain.

 Camping North Uist
Night 4 - Seilebost - Isle of Harris

This was an excellent spot and if you get the good weather im sure it would be amazing!  You are perched on an airy spot above the main bay of Harris where you can see right across the Taransay (castaway island) and right into the huge bay of sand.  This was another one of the busy sites and again its free.  There's even toilets and a water tap, what more could you ask for?   Harrris is famous for this beach and the camping spot is right next to it excellent spot for boats etc , if you happen to have one!  Half way between Leverburgh in the south and Tarbet in the north this is a convenient stop for walkers and cyclists pity i did not get a clear night as the views would have been out of this world !

Night 5 - Sligachan Campsite - Isle of Skye

Our first paying site for the week and to be honest i was to impressed .  As you can see the location is fantastic right at the foot of the northern Cuillins but the site was well overcrowded and the facilities were a bit ginging as they say.  However the wee dude that collects camp fees was a classy fellow and the way he runs the campsite is quite good, not so strict.  £4 and we get our first shower of the week cant really complain about that.  When i go back to climb the Cuillins in Skye i will use it again.  Overall not bad but if you go off road a bit I'm sure there are excellent areas for wild camping.

Camping Glen Nevis campsite Fort William

Night 6 - Glen Nevis Campsite - Fort William

well we were supposed to be home in Glasgow by now but we get on the train at Mallaig ready for the off, we get to Fort William and train turns off its engine Uhh Ohh? yip were stuck train doesn't go to Glasgow that night.  So being stranded in amazing Fort William isn't the worst thing that could happen and Glen Nevis Campsite is really nice, facilities are amazing , location is very classy, set up good but the place was way to busy for my liking.  £5 but definitely worth it, useful for any Ben Nevis hunters as its sits right at the.  (again i forgot to take a pic of the tent but i did take one of my match stick tower i built there !
