With this page i would just like to say a shout out to all the things on the trip that came in extremely handy ( believe me ! ),

Western Isles Bus StopsWestern Isles bus stop- a Gods send !

When we were over on the western Isles the weather was just slightly erratic i.e. it would be lovely one minute then chucking it down the next.  By day 2 we had worked out an ingenious method to solve this.  Since the rain seemed to only last for about 2 minutes the plan was , if you see a big manky cloud coming do the bolt and go at full speed to the nearest bus stop, thankfully there were many of them, and for this i would like to give a tribute to the bus company who kept me dry through many a day.  But that's not just it.  The bus stops on the Western Isles have maps in them and a very big handy "YOU ARE HERE ARROW" excellent ! this meant we could count down the miles in style.  All in all the bus stops came in mighty handy and compared to bus stops on the mainland they are luxury, not a melted or broken window in sight !

Co-op Shops

No matter what the population of the town is Co-op build a nice shop for them, these kept me from going hungry.  No matter where you went, always got a co-op and always had my tasty pasta salad which i lived on for the week ( because I couldn't be bothered cooking water for my super noodles ... how lazy is that)  However some co-op in South Uist bumped a member of the cycling crew by not displaying "Buy one get one free" sign on his Chewee bars  ( big shock when we went into next one ! ).  So 2nd last day we go through Portree in Skye and plan as usual to stop at the co-op wow! this is the daddy of all co-ops i was in heaven and ended up carting 4 liters of juice off in the back of my bike cos it was a good deal, fingers up for the co-op crew.

If I think of any more worthy tributes ill add them here.
